The Mission of Becoming Me

The Mission Statement of Becoming Me

The mission of Becoming Me is to share my personal experiences as I journey closer to becoming the person Christ desires for me to be. A person who will be completed in Heaven. It is my desire to take pieces of my life, both the beautiful and the ugly, and share them in order to encourage others to cling to the Hope that is found only in Christ our Lord. One passion of mine is to scrub away all the grimy residue left from believing lies from the pit of Hell; and to celebrate in the glorious truth that comes from the victory of the Cross.

Statements of Purpose

  • The writings published on Becoming Me are meant to glorify God and not intended for personal recognition.
  • Although comments and readership encourage me, my focus is on serving Christ with my writing and I pray daily to not lose sight of that goal. When I first started Becoming Me, I prayed the following: Lord, sharing the truth about your love is my purpose for this new blog. Please help me to not forget that. It doesn’t matter to me if it leads to other opportunities or is just read by a few. Lord, I trust you to bring the readership you desire. And if it is your will to have one person read it to impact her life and future, than that is fine by me. I don’t doubt at all that You are calling me to do this. Please keep me focused on the desire to please you.
  • While this blog is an important Lord-led ministry, I realize that God intends my ministries to my husband and children to have precedence to my writing.
  • I will not publish a post before first praying about it and allowing God to inspire my writing.
  • With all heartfelt stories I publish, at least one Scripture reference will be included.
  • I will pursue excellence, but not perfection. Publishing quality writing is of utmost importance and out weighs quantity.
  • My posts will remain transparent. Writing about painful seasons, challenges and struggles is not easy and sometimes after writing an emotional story I feel as though I’ve run a marathon. Yet at this point in my life I am certain that the Lord is asking me to do so and with a level of great intimacy. I write honestly knowing that He will protect me.

Mission and Vision

During the course of my public relations career I wrote several mission statements for companies, organizations, and programs. While talking to a good friend about this blog she asked me if I had written a mission statement before I started. I was shocked. Not by her question, but by the fact that I, author of myriad mission statements belonging to others, never gave thought to writing one for my blog, a blog that is intended for ministry.

I think it is important for me to have a clear mission for a blog that bleeds the contents of my heart. It is important for me to have something solid to read should I lose sight of my calling. It is also helpful that my readers to know what to expect when they come for a visit.

This is a bit off-topic for your post, but have you been to "Bring the Rain"? It's a blog (http://audreycaroline.
blogspot.com) that will make you marvel at the faith in God that one woman has through the loss of her baby, Audrey.

If you visit, have kleenex handy and be prepared to feel humbled by this woman's journey. Not sure why I felt compelled to share that with you, but there ya go.

Wow - that's so good. From the short time I've visited here, I think you are doing a great job of being true to this mission.

And terrirainer is right, Bring the Rain is another awesome example of a very purposeful blog.

A great idea! I've always known what my reasons were for blogging. I've just never articulated them in print. If for no one else, I will do it for myself.

Lovely. I just wrote some goals for my family, and they were a lot like that in helping me focus.

Good for you.

Also, know that your ppd writings are so valuable. Funny/sad story: I went to see a psychologist for ppd after my 2nd child was about 6 1/2 months old. We agreed that I was doing everything I could do (exercise, friends-outings) that I could do to get better, so he recommended I go on Zoloft. Great. No problem. However, about 6 weeks later, I was getting hives on my neck and face. From the Zoloft. The downside--my mom had died about 2 days after the hives had occured, so I was not so willing to give up the Zoloft. But alas I did, and switched to something else. The moral of this story is that ppd is real, and whether it's counseling, diet, medicine--it needs empathy and serious treatment. Kudos to you. xxxooogretchen

Your heart shines through in this post. As writers, it's so easy for us to fall victim to the evil one who is the father of all lies. May you continue to look to the Lord for the path He has prepared for you.

Marvellous thoughts. I'm inspired to write out my own mission statement now... although I've had a very loosly concieved set of goals right from the beginning of my blog. Excellent! :~D

very cool :o) I love what you wrote and you definitely inspired me! My thoughts for my blog keep reverting back to MORE of HIM and less of me- I feel convicted every time I get off course, which happeneds often :o(

Great idea to post a mission statement. You are right, it helps to keep the Main Thing.... the main thing.
It's so neat to see how God can use your blog to touch other women's lives. :)

Angela...I am totally impressed again...MISSION STATEMRNT of EXCELLENCES!!!

When I started my blog, not to long ago(April), I thought I had a mission but I am not following that one...so you are right, it's time to rethink and get hold of one!

aMazing IDEA...my BLOG title and Scripture verse are there to give my purpose or mission...so do I switch that or create a new mission that goes with the direction I've been going? Well,
I have until July 13th anyways...
even though I have a plan for July
30 day challenge...we'll see what
I can do...maybe I'll start Aug.1st
with my challenge...but limiting my
posts during July to end up with 100 on August 1st*special reason.

Sorry, for the long explanation!:)

I LOVE BECOMING ME & YOUR MISSION...May GOD help you fulfill it!
