The Devil and My Dachshund

I'm at Faith Lifts today. To find our what my sweet Dachshund could possibly have in common with miserable Satan, click here.

In some ways, this was a risky post for me to write, but one I feel the Lord directed. I'd love to have your input either here or over at Faith Lifts.

I enjoyed it! Analogies are very helpful for me, as I can then better relate Scripture to my own life. And sometimes the Lord puts strange analogies on our hearts... for whatever reason. Maybe He needed you to directly speak to a dachshund-lover today. LOL.

I once read a quote from I can't remember where that said something like, "We may be halfhearted in our battle against the enemy but he is never halfhearted in his attempts to destroy us."

Or something like that.

While we can certainly become overzealous in our battle against unseen forces, I think we are far more apt to give in to complacency. Our enemy is smart, and even more subtle. We must stand firm, armed with the Truth!

Why oh why do you think that was a risky post?!? I thought it was excellent because it speaks TRUTH. And it is a reminder that we have to be on guard for satan's whispers. I think you will speak to many people with this. I love it!

Love the dog analogy...neutered! That changes things doesn't it? We are to be alert and aware, but as you said mostly to recognize the lies he tells. Not in fear or terror, but vigilant ready to fight with the weapons of our warfare in Christ. He is a liar, but when we believe him we enter his camp by disagreeing with God...we cannot afford that. Take EVERY thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.

Excellent post. I am continually having to remind myself that God has promised us that NOTHING can separate us from his love.

This is off-topic, but I wanted to thank you for commenting on The Sampler article I did last Friday at 5 Minutes For Mom. I was glad for such lovely feedback. :-)

What a great analogy. Having a "ferocious" dachshund myself, my attention was caught by this post.

I grew up in a church where much of the focus seemed to be on Satan and being afraid that he would steal us away spiritually...I really like the reminder that he is already defeated. He only has the power over us that we allow him to have. The battle has been won.

Your posts are always so thoughtful and clear. I love reading them. I always feel like I'm sitting down at story time, drinking in all the details you include in your writing. It makes me feel like I'm right there, in the middle of the action.

Thank you for sharing your words and your wisdom.
