Blog of the Month - January

When I started blogging in late 2007, I had no idea how vast a community I had joined. There are thousands...probably hundreds of thousands...of blogs to choose from. There are news blogs, religious blogs, political blogs, mommy blogs, daddy blogs, prayer blogs, shopping blogs, and food blogs. There are blogs about broad subjects such as books, parenting, faith, homeschooling, and housekeeping. And there are blogs with a narrowed niche like cupcake blogs, apron blogs, and blogs about vintage trains. You name it and there is a blog for it.

Not only are there plethora of subjects about which to blog...there are many blogs within a particular genre. Since I am a Christian, a woman, and a mom, I tend to gravitate toward blogs written by Christian moms. While I do not limit myself to reading only these blogs (and recently became fascinated by blogs written young newlyweds), the majority of feeds in my blogline subscription are "mommy blogs."

The first blog I chose to highlight in 2009 is one of my favorite blogs written by a Christian mother. When I first read a post on Grace Unbound I couldn't help but think something like..."wow, and I thought I was a writer!" Loretta has a remarkable way with using words subtly to weave a profound message. Her writing is both witty and tranquil. She's wise, yet also a student of the King. I truly have been blessed each time I visit Grace Unbound and hope that you will take some time to get to know this amazing woman.

And just in case you need further convincing, here is an excerpt from her latest post:

It is a beautiful morning outside. I caught the edge of the sun as it started to rise, just tinting the sky with a band of pink and orange that blended into turquoise and then deeper shades of blue. The sun is still shining brightly and the sky is a sparkling blue. Anywhere else you’d probably be thinking “What a beautiful day to go outside.” In South Dakota, looks can be deceiving; the temperature is currently -8. I never thought that I’d live anywhere that temperatures were routinely in the negatives in the morning, but here I am. Still, it is a beautiful day for the last day of 2008.

To read the entire post click here and please leave Loretta some encouraging remarks...she definitely encourages others.

She writes beautifully. I think I secretly drive "writers" nuts with my posts yet they keep coming back lol. They are probably using me as an example of how not to write lol. I will have to go check her out, maybe I can get some pointers.
Hugs.

I found her through your blog a while back and I've been reading away!
I love people like her (and you) who are receiving His grace and sharing about it. I didn't understand grace for most my life, but I feel closer to it now.
Thanks!

I had to laugh when you said there are times you read other blogs and wonder at your own ability to write.
How many times have I been there??!!
I read some beautifully crafted post and think, What on Earth am I doing writing? Makes me even more thankful God can speak through the simple things, too. *grin*

Thanks for the introduction to a new blog.

While I'm a mommy, I don't tend to blog about being a mommy, although at first when I started blogging, I blogged about motherhood more. I have a special needs child and sometimes I just need to hear from other mothers who have unique situations.
