Blog of the Week Returns: The Mom Creative

OK, Ya'll I have moved into my new home in Ohio. You should know that I began this sentence with ya'll to prove (to myself I guess) that even though I am back in the north, there are three habits I learned during my 15 years down south that I'll never give up.

1) Saying Ya'll, because it is such a great word.

2) Two, using the phrase "Bless your/his/her little heart" when offering sympathy;

3) Sweet Tea.

I'm also trying to get back into the good habit of writing more often and keeping up with the blog world. The beginning of September seems like a great time to reintroduce "Blog of the Week."

Posted below is a short interview with the fabulous Jessica Turner who blogs at The Mom Creative. Enjoy!

Are you a mom? Yes, I am mommy to Elias, who is 12 months and into everything.

How long have you been blogging? Three years

Why did you start blogging? To share scrapbooking projects and other happenings with out of state loved ones.

What motivates you to continue blogging? I love the community of readers. I also love documenting part of my story through blogging.

Does you blog have a mission statement? If so, what is it? no, but I should come up with one!

What is your favorite verse from the Bible? Phil 4:13- I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. This verse has been such an encouragement to me during many seasons of my life.

funny that you think ohio is north, i live way, way WAY up in British Columbia compared to that. but i think you should keep your southern tendancies!

You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl!

Y'all, bless your heart, and sweet tea...couldn't have picked better examples. And I was born and bred in the South! Good job.

Love Jessica's site. I've been reading it for a while now.

One of my closest friends moved to Ohio last year -- I don't think she's coverted to "northinism" either, lol! ;) But Ohio is awesome. We've been up there to visit her twice, and I love that state.

I don't know what's a bigger shock, moving from the South to the North or vice versa! when we first moved to South Carolina when I was in high school, I could not even understand some of the crazy words people were saying.

"Nay" was how they said the word "No"
"Hey" was "hi". I was all confused.

Thanks for interviewing Jessica. She's definitely busy with a 12 month old in the house.

Glad you're all settled in your new home. I say "y'all" too and my northern cousins raz me about it. lol Blessings, SusanD

Too funny, ya'll. Actually, my roots are from the North...or relative north. :-) I grew up in PA, but moved south after college graduation in 96.

Nice to hear you're settled in...I was born in Ohio and love visiting there. But I've lived in the south my entire life. So, I picked up all the "habits" you mention except sweet tea. Don't like tea at all.

Thanks for sharing this blogger with us. I love it that you're doing this. It's time for me to venture out and meet some new bloggers.

Love it. For the record, I've lived in NH all but three of my 39 years, and I say "y'all" and love sweet tea. I'm a Northern Belle :)

Do they say "Ya'll" in Ohio? I thought "You Guys" belonged to ya'll! I moved from KY to TN and just over the summer back to KY. Thankfully, I haven't had to learn a new langauge-LOL. I'm still trying find my way out from under the boxes of stuff! Be blessed in your settling!I find a little more peace each day:)
